Thisl week, in preparation for our trip to Saltaire we looked at David Hockney’s picture of Salts Mill. We wondered if this is what it would look like in real life when we visit next week. We had a go a completing some half and half pictures of his famous painting. First we sketched the outline and used pastels to add colour.

Frog Belly Rat Bone

Last week in our topic we made our own Frog Belly’s to protect our seeds in class. We patched, buttoned, sewed and zipped old socks stuffed with paper and added wire arms and legs. We needed to plan and evaluate our project to thinking reflectively about what went well and how we could improve. What do you think?

We have been learning about plants and the effects light and water have on them. We have placed plants in different environments such as with 2ater and light, with water and not light, with light and now water and with nothing. We then made detailed observations of these over time too see what happened! Which pants do you think survived?

Is the field just grass

Today we did an investigation to find our if our school field was made up of just grass or if there were other things growing there too. We discovered clovers, Daisy’s, sticky weed, dandelions and moss all growing with the grass too. What an interesting afternoon we had.

Meerkat Omelette

In out Mertkat Mail story Sunny visited the farm where he tried eggs but he wasn’t sure that he liked them. We decided to make a meerkat omelette with scorpions and beetles and the write instructions for Sunny so he could have a go.

We thought about how meerkats serve each other by keeping lookout and warning their mob when there is danger about.  We then thought about how we could be like meerkats and how we could serve each other, ourselves, our school and our community.

Parents Visit Out Class

A massive thank you to all the parents who visited our class last week. We loved having you there and being able to show off all our learning to you. We hope you enjoyed it and that it was interesting for you to see some of the things we have been learning. We also hope you enjoyed our assembly. We loved it and Miss Savage was very proud!

Moving Art

This week we have been continuing with our owl and the pussy cat learning. We have created some fantastic moving pictures of them sailing on their boat. We created the seascape background using pastels and then drew our boat before attaching it to a leaver. They are beautiful Year2 well done!

Science Week

During science week we were continuing with our learning about nocturnal animals. We decided to set up a chamber to see what nocturnal animals visited school at night. We set up a tube with paper rolled in it and filled it with some food to attract the animals. We put a tray of paint at either end so the aminal would walk through it and leave footprints.  The next day there were some small footprints.  When we investigated we found that the belonged to a hedgehog. How exciting!

Book Night

We had an amazing time at our Book Night. It was amazing to see the children so excited about reading and enjoying themselves. A huge thank you to the children for their creativity when they came to work with me creating their own book character.  Thee were lots of fantastic and creative ideas. Thank you for all your support with this event!
